Lynnhaven Dive Center to pilot a new youth scuba dive program for NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries called the Ocean Guardian Dive Club (OGDC) held in Virginia Beach

LDC is proud to be one of four dive shops in the country asked to pilot a new youth dive program for NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries called the  Ocean Guardian Dive Club (OGDC). Once finalized, the OGDC will be a nationally recognized program designed to strengthen youth involvement in diving and ocean conservation.

As part of this program, LDC’s Scuba Campers are diving through simulated kelp forests, coral reefs and humpback whale breeding grounds.  They are also learning about marine conservation efforts such as invasive lionfish control and underwater cleanups.  So if you see plastic bags, balloons, and fishing line floating in the LDC pool next time you visit, don’t worry  — it’s just LDC’s campers practicing cleanup skills.
