About GAS BLENDER
Correctly mixing gasses is essential to being able to breathe safely underwater. The SSI Gas Blender program teaches you the skills and concepts required to safely blend nitrox and helium-based trimix gases. This non-diving program is open to certified and uncertified divers and teaches proper usage of mathematics, gas blending software, physics, and techniques required to blend breathing gases safely.
Upon completing this program, you will earn either the SSI Nitrox Gas Blender or SSI Trimix Gas Blender certification. Get started online today!
Academic
The SSI Gas Blender program provides students with the ability to blend nitrox and helium-based trimix blends.
There are two possible certifications for this program:
- Nitrox Gas Blender
- Trimix Gas Blender
Requirements for Completion:
Nitrox Gas Blender
- Complete Academic Sessions 1–5 and assessments as outlined in the instructor manual for Gas Blender.
- Complete a Nitrox Gas Blender final exam.
- Complete Practical Application Sessions 1 and 2 as outlined in the instructor manual for Gas Blender.
Trimix Gas Blender
- Complete all academic sessions and assessments as outlined in the instructor manual for Gas Blender.
- Complete a Trimix Gas Blender final exam.
- Complete Practical Application Sessions 1 through 4 as outlined in the instructor manual for Gas Blender.
Required Equipment
- Access to a blending station with gases capable of producing nitrox blends.
- Access to a partial pressure blending station.
- Gas analyzer(s) suitable for blends up to 100% oxygen and a helium analyzer if producing any helium-based trimix blends.
