About ADVANCED OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION
Continue exploring the oceans, extend your dive times, reduce your air consumption and more with the SSI Advanced Adventurer program. Try 5 different dive specialties without committing to a full dive program and discover the diving you love. This is the best way to continue your education to become a confident, safe and comfortable advanced diver.
Academic
SSI Advanced Open Water Diver is the next recognition rating on the path to becoming an SSI Master Diver, and includes four SSI Specialty program Digital Kits. After completing the four SSI Specialty programs that interest you, as well as 24 logged dives, you will automatically receive the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver recognition rating, along with your SSI Specialty program certifications.
Required Equipment
Some courses will require specialty equipment such as finger spools, a wreck reel, SMBs, a compass, underwater lights, etc.
As an Advanced diver, you should also have your own Total Dive System or be on your way to getting one. It’s important to have your own gear so that you can become comfortable and familiar with what you’re diving with. Not all gear is alike, just like not every person is. Our staff can help you decide what is right for you.

What do I need to get started?
Register online at DiveSSI.com and choose Lynnhaven Dive Center as your training center. Then come into the shop or call us to select and pay for your courses. Once payment is made we will unlock the specialty courses so the online learning can be completed. This is also when we can schedule when to come in for the classroom portion of your learning.
