About INDEPENDENT DIVING
The Independent Diving course provides the skills and concepts required to safely and comfortably dive without a designated dive buddy.
Academic
This program provides the skills and concepts required to safely and comfortably dive without a designated dive buddy. You will learn about self-reliance, proper equipment maintenance, and the special considerations and rescue techniques required to dive independently. You will earn the SSI Independent Diving Specialty certification after completing this program..
Required Equipment
You must have your own Total Dive System with redundant equipment as well.
Prerequisites
- Must be at least 18 years old and certified as an Open Water Diver.
- Must have completed at least 75 dives totaling 50 hours or more.
- Must have certifications and at least 5 logged dives in: Deep Diving, Navigation, and Night and Limited visibility.
- Also must be certified in Diver Stress and Rescue.

What’s Not Included
You must complete at least two open water certification dives with your instructor, these are not included in the price.
What do I need to get started?
Register online at DiveSSI.com and choose Lynnhaven Diver Center as your training center. Then call or come in to pay for your course, once payment is made we will unlock the online learning for you to complete before coming in for your classroom sessions. You can also schedule the classroom session at the time.
